Connect EROAD to ChatGPT
To connect EROAD to ChatGPT, turn on developer mode in Settings, then open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector and paste https://eroadmcp.co.nz/mcp. Sign in with your email, type the 6-digit code we send, and press Approve. ChatGPT can then read your EROAD fleet data.
An honest note. ChatGPT hides custom MCP connectors behind developer mode, and the option is not available on every ChatGPT plan. If you cannot find developer mode in your Settings, your plan does not offer custom connectors yet. Claude has no such restriction — see the Claude guide.
Before you start you need an EROAD account on a plan that includes API access (EROAD's Premium plan) and an API key created in MyEROAD. Here is how to create the key.
https://eroadmcp.co.nz/mcpSteps
- Turn on developer mode. In ChatGPT, open Settings and enable developer mode. Custom MCP connectors are only offered once developer mode is on.
- Open Connectors. Still in Settings, go to Connectors.
- Add a custom connector. Choose "Add custom connector" and paste the server URL https://eroadmcp.co.nz/mcp.
- Sign in with your email. ChatGPT opens our sign-in page. Enter your email address, then the 6-digit code we send you.
- Approve access. Press Approve. ChatGPT is now connected to your EROAD account.
- Ask a question. Try "Which drivers are close to their hours limit?" and allow the connector when ChatGPT asks.
Troubleshooting
- There is no "Add custom connector" button. Developer mode is off, or your plan does not include custom connectors.
- The connector was added but is never used. Mention it in your question, for example "Using the EROAD connector, list my vehicles".
- Sign-in fails. Check the email address you used and look in your spam folder for the 6-digit code. Codes expire after 10 minutes.
